I got good practice blocking and reflecting his ki blasts back at him with that test. I eventually got mad and landed a 100 hit combo on him like "this is my pain, my agony, and all of my sorrow!"

how I did it: X or Y whichever works best for you. attack and keep an eye on your blue stamina bar, once you hit a parry take not of where your stamina bar was. So attack until you get a parry, while keeping your eye on the blue stamina bar. attack again but this time, make an effort to block where the bar was at the time it was filling back up. (mine was almost filled but just a sliver off. I did the whole thing just keeping an eye on the bar not even looking at my character
